Itās been a lovely sunny day, and 15 degrees here today.
I was doing some cardio training today, something I like to do from Monday to Friday.
During my training, I was listening to part 2 of an audio by Dan Kennedy.
Dan talks about Marvelā¦
Saying that everyoneās heard of Spider-Man, Iron Man, The Avengers and Captain America. And that youād have to be living in a cave not to have.
But did you know that Marvel was almost bankrupt on three separate occasions?
They HARDLY ever made any money⦠Nope.
And every once in a while, they had a year when they made some money.
They had licensed out all their films for relatively low money because they so desperately needed cash all the time.
They made no profitā¦
Even after years and years and years of having a ton of popular intellectual property.
As popular as Spider-Man was then, they couldnāt turn in any cash.
(I can still remember going to the cinema in the 70s when I was a kid to watch Spiderman, I loved that film. Lol.)
Then Disney brought it, being smart marketers, they knew what to do.
They plugged it into their ecosystem and got their entire purchase price back on three films, and the thing is making a fortune.
So, it aināt the intellectual property!
Nope⦠Itās intellectual property and what gets done with it.
And Dan says:
āWhen you hear the phrase ācontent is kingā this is utterer CRAP.
ā
Itās another way of saying – if you build a better mousetrap, theyāll beat a path to your door.ā
And according to Dan, this is a fatally flawed idea.
Content is NOT king, itās worthless. Itās what you do with that content where the value lies.
Zaf.
