    What do you call a well-balanced horse?

    Stable.

    Hahaha…

    Did you crack a smile?

    I did when I read that, lol.

    I came across the following idea from Ben Settle, although I heard something similar before.

    If you’re like me, I bet you have a ton of products and books that you’ve paid anywhere from $100 – $1,000 for.

    Out of the good ones, how many times have you gone through them?

    I have a shit load and out of these that are good I’d say only two I’ve gone through at least twice.

    Ben’s idea is that it’s better to consume the good ones 10x’s (at LEAST).

    Sounds a bit overdoing it aye!

    But consider this…

    Going through those good products that many times will give you a DEEP understanding of the subject.

    You’ll also get a ton of ideas, solutions and lots and lots of ideas for your ads, products, articles, blog posts, emails, etc.

    (And even one good idea could make you a ton of money.)

    And copywriting and marketing greats like Gary Bencivenga and David Deutsche say the same thing.

    If they could do it over again, they would read 10 of the best books 10 times each instead of 100 so-so books.

    There’s a saying that Les Brown says which goes… faith comes by hearing and hearing and hearing.

    And it’s the same with learning.
    The more you watch, listen or read something the more it seeps into your subconscious.

    Allowing your subconscious to mull it over while you’re busy doing other things.

    And when you least expect it… ideas will start popping into your mind that you’ll be able to use in your business and life.

  • I used AI and got these lead magnet ideas

    Although I don’t like using AI to write my emails, I do like using it to create outlines for products and generate ideas.

    In a previous email, I talked about how to create a self-liquidating funnel for ads.

    Running ads to a lead magnet and then making an offer on the thank you page.

    With an order bump on the checkout page.

    And then an upsell.

    I’ve been using AI today to give me ideas for a lead magnet that I could use to create a self-liquating funnel.

    (To use for Facebook ads.)

    I entered the below in the ChatGPT prompt.

    “Can you please give me lead magnet ideas for a front-end product I have below:

    Front-end Product: Niche Goldmine – a resource list of 147 profitable niches that includes the following:

    The wife and I not long got back from doing the weekly shopping.

    We’d been to our local Aldi, and the wife said:

    “Every week we go, their prices seem to keep going up!”

    And come April we’re going to see a lot of things going up…

    Leading to more people looking online for ways to make some extra income.

    Meaning that NOW is the best time to start building an online business.

    No doubt you’ve read that the number one thing you should be doing is building an email list.

    The #1 goal of your business is NOT to grow an email list. It’s to grow a buyer’s list.

    The GOAL is to grow a buyers list.

  • How to pick the perfect start-up product

    As I’m sitting here at my desk writing this email to you…

    … it’s absolutely pissing down with rain outside.

    For the past 29 days, I’ve been writing a daily email and posting it on Facebook.

    I’ve also been adding contacts to build my reach – the idea being to build my email list using an organic method.

    In Ready, Fire, Aim, Michael Masterson describes five simple steps to creating a product that can launch a business.

    And says once you’ve figured out where your customers are, selecting the right product to sell them is the next step.

    One of the BIGGEST mistakes you can avoid when doing this is starting with a single product in mind.

    To avoid falling into this trap it’s important to stay flexible about the product idea…

    If one version doesn’t work, you can fall back on several other ideas that could work better.

    When creating your first product, you can’t tell how well it’ll do till you test it.

    Below are the exact steps I took when I created my first product.

    These steps are:

    1. Find out what products are currently hot in the market.
    2. Determine if your product idea fits that trend.
    3. If it does, you’re set to go. If it doesn’t, follow steps 4 and 5.
    4. Come up with me-too versions of several hot products.
    5. Improve them in some way by adding features or benefits the originals lacked.

    To find out what’s hot, look where your market hangs out and what products are being sold.

    For example, for the make money online niche look at sites like WarriorPlus.

    Once you identified the top 3 products selling in your market, study them, buy them and go through them.

    If you’re going to sell your products on WarriorPlus then you’ll need to price accordingly for that platform.

    Here I decided NOT to use WarriorPlus but instead use ThriveCart.

    This allowed me to charge a higher price than if I were to list my product on WarriorPlus, which has lower-priced front-end products.

    The same idea here can be applied to creating any type of product, including bonuses for your affiliate products.

  • Should you “move the free line”?

    I can still remember when I first started online…

    Reading the recommendations of ‘so-called’ goo-roos.

    Saying that you should give away your best stuff for free.

    Aka “move the free line.”

    There’s a saying I like:

    “If You’re Good At Something, Never Give It Away For Free.”

    Joker.

    The following story from Ben Settle is a great example of the problem this can lead to …

    “Imagine you have a grocery store, and you have a competitor across the road.

    You have the same customers, the same traffic, the same exact products.

    The ONLY difference is your marketing strategy.

    Your competitor has been reading a load of internet marketing goo-roos stuff. And now thinks he needs to “move the free line”.

    Which to some means giving away your BEST stuff upfront in the hopes of then HOOKING people into wanting everything else you’ve got.

    And here’s what happens:

    Your competitor starts giving a bunch of cool free stuff at the store – like fillet mignon, expensive desserts, etc. His “BEST’ stuff – free.

    It makes him a bit nervous at first, of course. I mean who really gives away their BEST products free?

    But then he relaxes when he remembers this is what, you know, the goo-roos do.

    And hey, let’s face it, the dude gets a lot of traffic in his store!

    He even gets a lot of sales, too. The only problem is his NET profits are a big fat ZERO.”

    Ben goes on to say that more and more people start going to the store as they’ve heard about all the free stuff they can get.

    And sure, he’s getting a lot of traffic – but they’re only taking the free stuff and not buying much.

    Leading to less money and the competitor going out of business…

    Better to give:

    1. Irresistible Offers
    2. Free “tastes”

    Offers in the form of special sales (getting paid for what you sell).

    Free tastes in the form of a small sample of your best stuff…

  • Staying motivated during tough times

    Some days when I’m working on my business, I find days where I don’t feel very motivated.

    Like my plan to send out a daily email for 30 days.

    (which I’ve now done and planning to keep doing.)

    Some days that was SO easy and then other days, damn it felt so HARD…

    That’s where I’ve found having something inspirational to either listen to or read really is helping me.

    One of my favourite things is listening to one of Les Brown’s audiobooks.

    A great one I have is ‘The Best of Les Brown’.

    Here are a couple of quotes from Les Brown’s audio:

    “Other people’s opinion of you does not have to become your reality.”

    “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars”.

    “Most people fail in life not because they aim too high and miss, but because they aim too low and hit.”

    There’s a great story on the audio relating to the FIRST quote.

    Les talks about when he was at school his nickname was DT (Dum Twin).

    And this particular day the teacher called him up to the front of the class, thinking he was Wesley (his twin brother).

    Everyone shouted out that’s NOT Wesley that’s DT.
    “Who’s DT?” the teacher asked… that’s DT the dumb twin, Leslie not Wesley.

    They answered.

    To which Les replied – that’s right, I’m DT.

    And the teacher turned round to Les and said…

    “Other people’s opinion of you does not have to become your reality.”

    What’s your favourite quote?

    It’s important to keep yourself motivated, especially during those tough times.

    When the work you’re doing doesn’t seem to be bringing you many results.

    Find something to listen to and read that’ll help you keep being consistent.

    Being consistent with your actions is what’s going to help you succeed at this online thing.

  • Building a self-liquidating ad funnel

    I got this idea a few days ago…

    From a newsletter that I’m subscribed to.

    The idea is to use paid ads to build an email list.

    Using what’s called a self-liquating funnel.

    Running ads to a lead magnet and then making an offer on the thank you page.

    With an order bump on the checkout page.
    And then an upsell.

    Ideally, the offer on the thank you page should be small, $1 – $20. Though it could be higher.

    The order bump should be $10 – $100.

    And an upsell of $20 – $300.

    It then comes down to calculating that your average order value (AOV) is higher than your cost per acquisition (CPA).

    (What you’re making covers the cost of getting those subscribers.)

    There is a good chance that you’ll need to do some testing to make the numbers stack.

    Now there are two ways I’ve thought about doing this myself.

    I can use my existing funnel and create a lead magnet for it.

    Or I can use a white label/PLR product.
    The quickest for me would be to create the lead magnet for my existing funnel.

    To recap what would be needed:

    1. A lead magnet that gives your customer a tangible outcome. That gives a result.

    2. Basic squeeze page for the lead magnet.

    3. Test the lead magnet out on social (organic) to make sure people want it.

    4. Look on your hard drive for something to sell for $1 – $20.

    5. Create a short sales page for it, on the thank you page.

    6. Create/find a small product for the bump offer of $20 – $99.

    7. Create the first upsell that complements the main product.

    8. Start testing. Start with a small budget, enough to make sure the campaign starts collecting data, so the machine learning can start working.

    9. If converting, add automated emails driving unconverted leads back to the thank you page so they can buy.

    10. Add in more upsells.

    11. Continue to test new creative pieces on the front end and optimize the funnel metrics.

    Although this won’t make you a millionaire overnight, it WILL get you started.

  • Quick way to validate a lead magnet

    This morning i had tear up some big ass cardboard boxes.

    My daughter got a new bed. Her boyfriend put his BIG foot through one of the slats the other day when he was putting up the new TV.

    (The slat was nearly in half hanging together only by some wooden fragments.)

    Yesterday the new bed arrived. My daughter and her boyfriend spent most of the day putting it together.

    My wife and I got left cleaning up the mess and recycling the boxes in which the bed and new mattress arrived.

    It seems no matter how old my kids get,we are always clearing up after them. Lol.

    Recently I learned a cool free way to validate a lead magnet before creating it.

    Saving you loads of time and energy putting one together that no one wants.

    And it’s REALLY simple to do.

    This works really great on social media.

    You write a post to say you’re putting together a free guide that’s going to help you ‘Whatever your guide does’.

    If you’d like a copy when it’s ready, comment the word (name of lead magnet, etc.) below.

    When they comment, reach straight back out to them and say something like:

    “Thanks so much for commenting, shoot me your email or message me back with your email and I’ll add you to my list and I’ll send it to you as soon as it’s ready.”

    You’re doing two things here:

    1. You’re validating your idea for the lead magnet you have.
    2. You’re collecting email addresses that you now can add into your autoresponder. And start to build an email list.

    You could also go to your contacts and see if they’d be interested.

    If you haven’t got many contacts, it’s easy to build them up.

    That’s something I’ve been doing on Facebook.

    And you may want to do this first before you try validating your lead magnet.

    People are always looking for case studies.

    Last Friday we had some lovely sunny weather here in Notts today.

    I’ve been in the back garden clearing up all the fallen leaves from winter.

    As I read the email, I burst out laughing.

  • Affiliate marketing and having a following?

    Affiliate marketing and having a following?

    Today’s been a bit chilly compared to last Friday…

    When the wife decided that the front lawn needed cutting.

    Luckily enough I managed to escape that chore as my daughter’s boyfriend was here, lol.

    I came across an interesting question today that someone was asking online…

    Someone asked:

    “Is it possible to replace my job with an affiliate marketing business without being an influencer or showing my face?

    What are realistic outcomes for someone starting out.

    I feel like affiliate marketing is only worth it if you have some sort of following…”

    It’s not something I’ve really thought about when I started trying affiliate marketing.

    I’d say…

    Yes, it’s possible, but it will take WORK.

    You don’t need to be an influencer or show your face.

    But you do need a following of some sort if you want to build a long-term income.

    You could create one of those faceless YouTube videos. Or write content and link to an affiliate offer.

    A bit like I’m doing on social and linking out to an opt-in page…

    Some years ago, I enrolled in a course on Udemy for affiliate marketing.

    That taught the direct link method with ads for ClickBank products.

    (It is quite good as well, and it’s still on there.)

    It’s currently now listed on Udemy as a top-rated course.

    Though when I did this, the main training was using Bing Ads.

    And direct linking to an affiliate offer, with a small section on building an email list.

    (Since I last looked at this, the course is now updated to include other traffic strategies.)

    But the problem I found was finding a product on ClickBank that was going to convert well.

    Most newbies expect the first product to convert right off the bat.

    (Which we know is usually completely the opposite.)

    I took this course in 2014 when it first came out on Udemy.

    And I didn’t make any commissions from doing this.

    In the free Facebook group, that was part of this course.

    Quite a few people kept asking how long it’d take them to start getting some commissions.

    That’s the thing with this strategy, it can take trying a few different products before you start and see any results, if any.

    It’s one you must be consistent with and don’t mind spending on ads while you’re doing this.

    But for me that isn’t a great strategy.

    Nope, much better to build an email list and create a rapport with that list.

    By offering them valuable and interesting content. And provide them with offers that you’ll think will help them.
